Marilyn Melita Short Wallace

Marilyn Melita Short Wallace, 82, of Malvern passed away on April 14, 2014. Melita was born on March 6, 1932 in Malvern to the late Howard & Neta Fair. She was a member of Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed at the Arlington Hotel for 24 years and was very dedicated to her job and hotel family. One of her greatest joys was holiday gatherings with her family.
Melita was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Carl Short; her second husband, Joe Wallace; and sister, Ella Mae Barrow.
Melita is survived by her sons, Ronny (Myra) Short of Magnet Cove, Larry (Mary) Short of Vancouver, WA, Jerry (Debbie) Short of Lonoke, and James Short of Mabelvale; sister, Charlotte Bettell of Benton; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Arkansas Hospice staff, the staff at Baptist Health Medical Center-Hot Spring County Step Down Unit and Med. Surg. Floor, and the Skilled Nurse Unit at National Park Medical Center. A special thank you to Arbor Oaks.
