Melvin McClenahan, 80, of Bismarck passed away Sunday November 16, 2014. He was born on January 29, 1934 to Sarah “June” and Lawrence McClenahan. Melvin was a member of the Caddy Hunt Club and loved his stamp collecting. He helped found the New DeRouche volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Melvin retired from Reynolds Aluminum. He loved to hunt, fish and doing his woodworking projects, including his house, of which he was very proud.
Melvin is predececed by his wife of 60 years Virginia McClenahan. He is survived by four sons; Wayne (Lillie) McClenahan of Bismarck, Darrell (Caroline) McClenahan of Hot Springs, Marty McClenahan of Bismarck, and Randy (Debbi) McClenahan of Bismarck; a brother Alan “Peanut” (Skeet) McClenahan of Midland, Texas; two sisters, Virginia (Roy) Caddy of Lono, AR and Shirley (Carl) Langle of Viola, AR.
A memorial service will held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern. Honorary pallbearers are the crew of the New DeRouche fire department.
