Gordon J. "Buddy" Holmes

Gordon J. “Buddy” Holmes, 88, of Malvern passed away at his home on February 24, 2015. Gordon was born in Hampton, AR on October 21, 1926 to Jesse and Katherine Holmes. He was the eighth of twelve children. He made his living as an iron worker. His job allowed him to travel and work all over the United States.
Gordon is predeceased by his parents; nine of his siblings; and his wife of 59 years, Doris May (Hagedorn) Holmes.
Gordon is survived by two sons, Michael (Susan) Holmes and Mitch Holmes, both of Redfield, AR; daughter, Genice Holmes of Malvern; sisters, Hazel Lucas of Hampton, AR and Audry “Sis” Patton of CA; grandson, Jesse Holmes; granddaughters, Tabetha Holmes and Zoe Mitchell; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the Saline Memorial Home Hospice for the care and respect that they gave to Gordon.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Atkinson Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Pickett Cemetery in Hampton, AR.
