Herbert Benjamin Benham, 77, of Malvern went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2015. Herbert was born on October 19, 1937 in Brinkley, AR to Robert Gilmore Benham and Lettie Marie (Jones) Benham. He was a U.S. Army veteran and he retired from Borden Milk and Walmart. Herbert was a very hard working family man who took advantage of the gifts he was given and made the most of them. He was always a good provider for his family, loyal, and loving. He was a loyal, loving husband to his wife, Ruby Benham for 27 years. He was a member of the South Main Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Greeter and the Treasurer of the Brotherhood. The children in the church loved going because they knew they would be greeted by Herbert with a hug, a smile, and a peppermint candy every Sunday. He was such a kind, gentle spirit who was always there for his family. His love has inspired and touched so many people and he will be deeply missed.
Herbert is predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Eva Morrison, Roberta Scroggins, and Violet Williams; and two brothers, John Benham and Bobby Joe Benham.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Ruby Benham of Malvern; two sons, Randy (Holly) Benham of Scott, AR, and Kevin (Shelly) Benham of Benton, AR; three daughters, Martha (Danny) Waite of Malvern, Peggy Cash of Cleveland, OH, and Tina Hobbs of Malvern; three brothers, George Benham, Billy Benham, and Don Benham, all of Benton, AR; one sister, Ruby Burns of Salem, AR; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his two dedicated lap dogs, Charlie and Louie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Atkinson Chapel with Bro. Will Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Rockport Memorial Gardens.
