  • Zettie L. Pikey (86) of Malvern passed away peacefully at home January 26, 2016. She was under the care of Gentiva Hospice. She fought a heroic battle with colon cancer for 5 years. She was born February 19, 1929 in Malvern to Leonard F. and Eula (Hughes) Sirratt. Her father died when she was 2 years old. Her mother raised her and two brothers in the heart of the Great Depression.

    Zettie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers (Clayborn) & (L.G. “Mousie”) and grandson (Eric Pikey). She was a faithful member of Taylor’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

    She was an avid gardener and spent as much time as possible doing yard work. She also loved fishing until she was unable to due to Louis’s declining health.

    She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Louis Pikey; daughter, Linda McDermott; sons, Leonard (Judy) and David; grandchildren, Steve McDermott, Melissa Shan McDonald, Robert Pikey and Chris Pikey. She is also survived by 10 Great Grandchildren.

    Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Taylors Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Malvern with Bro. Jerry Scroggins officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

    Sad to hear about Zettie Lou's passing. Rest assured she is wrapped in our heavenly fathers arms and is healed now. My thoughts and prayers are with y'all at this sad time.
