  • Louis A. Pikey (90) of Malvern passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2016.  He was under the care of Gentiva Hospice.  He fought a heroic battle with Parkinson’s for 12 years.  He was born September 10, 1925 in Portageville, Missouri to Welton and Mary Samantha (Wheeler)Pikey.  Louis was proceeded in death by his wife of 69 years, Zettie  Pikey , his parents, his brother (S.G. Pikey)of Memphis, TN , his sisters (Beauton Phillips of Portageville, MO and Christine Davis of Memphis, TN) and grandson (Eric Pikey).  Louis was a faithful member and deacon at Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church until lack of mobility prevented his attending.  Louis was an avid hunter and fisherman until his declining health prevented his doing so.  He also loved wood working and puttering around in his shop.  He served in the Navy during WWII as an electrician’s mate and was a retired machinist.

    Louis is survived by his daughter, Linda McDermott of Benton; sons, Leonard (Judy) of Malvern and David of Seligman, MO; grandchildren, Steve McDermott of Lubbock, TX, Melissa Shan McDonald of Benton, Robert Pikey of Malvern and Chris Pikey of Benton; a sister, Pat Hendrix of Little Rock; and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 12th at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 13th  at 2:00 P.M. at Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church in Malvern with Bro. Jerry Scroggins officiating.  Pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons, and nephews.  Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

    The family also wishes to thank his caregivers (LaShelle Jones and Varonica Kremp) who made his last days so comfortable and allowed him to stay home.  Thank you so much for all of your kindness.

    I am Very sorry for the lost of a Family Member, But I know that he is with Aunt Zettie in Heaven with the Good Lord Jesus. All the Family is in my prayers. I have some Records on the Hughes Family, if anyone wants them send me an Email or Call 479-280-7384. I Love and miss all of you.
