  • Amanda Jane McClenahan Hughes Hardin, age 99, cherished mother and grandmother passed in peace to her Heavenly home on Tuesday August 15, 2017. She was born September 29, 1917 to Elias and Mary Prince McClenahan in Hot Spring County. She was a charter member of Prairie Bayou Church of Christ in New DeRoche.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Geneva Ann, her first husband, Ray Hughes, her second husband, Raymond Hardin, her sisters, Ora, Pearl, Alice, Myrtle, Retha and Helen and her brothers, Lawrence, James, Clifford and Marvin.

    Amanda is survived by her four children, Hubert (Jayne) Hughes and Bill (Mary) Hughes both of Malvern; Jane (Neil) Matlock and Steve (Gail) Hughes both of New DeRoche; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Extended family includes the Bernard Hardin family, Ann Posey and family along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

    A Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Prairie Bayou Church of Christ with Rev. Jim Gourley and Rev. Ricky Collie officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Interment will follow service at the Prairie Bayou Cemetery.

    We are going to miss our wonderful Aunt. Prayers for the family during this sad time. I know it is hard to give up your Mother, but you have great memories of how special she was. We will always remember the twinkle in her eyes and the smile on her face. Love you Aunt Mandy!

    I went to her wake and she looked sooooo pretty. I loved her so much. I took care of her at Encore. THANKS FOR SHARING YALL LOVED ONE WITH ME
