  • Verla M. Beason, 87 of Malvern passed away January 30, 2018. Verla was born September 1, 1930 to the late Coy and Mitchel Pilcher Hodges in Antioch, Arkansas. Verla was an avid crafter who loved to sew anything especially dolls and monkeys for family and friends. But more than anything her greatest passion was FISHING!

    Verla is predeceased by her parents, Coy & Mitchel Hodges, her loving husband of 35 years, Milton Beason, her brother, Kenneth Hodges, her sister, Gladys Selph, her grandson, Jeremy Hill, her great-grandson, Tanner Hill, her great-granddaughter, Shian Hill, her son-in-law, Bud Hill and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Hodges.

    Verla will be greatly missed by her sons, Terry Beason and his wife Brenda, Lewis Beason and his wife Debbie; her daughter, Sandra Hill; her brother, Arlie Hodges, her sister, Judy Burkhart, brothers-in-law, Bobby Selph, and Larry Beason and a sister-in-law, Sue Jackson. Verla also leaves behind, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many other friends and loved ones.

    Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Howell and Bro. David Jeffers officiating. Interment will follow at Neighbors Cemetery in Midway. Pallbearers will be Bryon Hill, Rick Hill, Michael Beason, Chris Brown, Kelly Hodges and Jerry Selph.

    I'm so sorry to hear about Verla! She was a very precious lady! I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the visitation or funeral I'm having some tests done on me, but just know I love y'all and I'll be thinking and praying for y'all. Delinda Hodges

    I have many happy memories of Verla at Sunday morning church services when I was just a kid. My thoughts and prayers for the family in this time of loss and sorrow.
