Eleanor Walters Rains, 97, of Malvern, passed away March 19, 2018. Eleanor was born to the late Edgar Lee and Gracie Carolina Paul Walters on May 17, 1920, in Gifford, Arkansas. Eleanor was a wonderful and loving, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, person, and friend. She was also an avid gardener and flower grower who had a great love for God and Jesus, her family and friends.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Caroline Walters; her husband, Webster Rains; and three sisters, Rosie, Rozine, and Flora.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Mary Rains Brooks, and Rebecca Rains Gilbert both of Malvern, and Martha Rains Ramsey of Poyen; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Nutt, Felicia Wood, Thomas McJunkins, Susan Phillips, Jason Ramsey, Stacey Ramsey, Sheryl Mathis, Chad Gilbert, Michael Gilbert; 24 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Erma Walters of Malvern, Marie Maran of CA and Evelyn Shepard of Bryant, AR.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 23, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Cheatham officiating. Interment will be at Francois Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Ramsey, Tommy McJunkins, Michael Gilbert, Chad Gilbert, Colton Phillips, Scott Phillips, Aaron Mathis, and Luis Balanos.
