  • Stanley Matthew Boshears, 87, passed away January 17, 2019, at his home in Gifford, Arkansas. He was born June 5, 1931, to Dess V. and Mary Fitzhugh Boshears in Maumelle, AR. Stanley served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Cabildo. He was married to Laverne Turner on July 26, 1954, in Malvern, AR shortly he went to work at the Borax Mine in Boron, CA until 1968. After that, the family moved to Benton, AR where he was a licensed master electrician for Alcoa Metals in Benton until he retired. He and Laverne were members of the Keith Memorial Methodist Church where Stanley served the Lord as an usher and the church treasurer.

    Stanley was an avid Razorback fan. He and Laverne traveled to every Razorback game they could attend. He also loved spending time with all his family. There was never a time when people were not welcome in their home. Stanley enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and piddling around the house.

    He is preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, Virgil and Jim Boshears; and a sister, Marybelle Patenotte.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Laverne Boshears; three daughters, Vicky Little and her husband Lee from Blevins, AR; Mitzi Perry and her husband Dale from Tyler, TX; Cindy Gill and her husband Richard from Gifford, AR; and one brother, Robert Boshears from Bismarck, AR. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

    Visitation will be held 1:00 pm Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern. Funeral Services will follow the visitation with Dale Perry, Jeff Ladd, and Lee Little officiating.  Interment will be at Fairplay Cemetery in Benton.

    Pallbearers will be Jeremy Beasley, Brody Draper, Dewey Williams, Jacob Clark, Phillip Beasley, and Dylan Robeson.
